Why Lockers Can Be a Bit Tricky at Times

If you use the RAC regularly, I am sure you have run into times when the daily locker you choose is a bit finicky.  Maybe it doesn't latch properly; maybe you are having a problem with the locker reading your band properly; there are times that the alarm may even go off randomly.

When the lockers were first installed in 2016, we educated members on properly operating them. This information came from the company that provided us with the locks.  They do not recommend using your EID to close and lock the locker simultaneously. Using the EID to close and lock simultaneously may work, but the system is not designed to operate in this manner. They recommended pushing on the locker number/light until the locker closes (you may be able to hear the mechanism).  Once it is closed, then present your EID to lock the locker.

The lockers have a security feature that alarms if the locker is tampered with or force is used to pry the locker open.  This will cause the locker to audibly alarm, which also notifies the Activities and Front Desk.  A staff member will visit the locker to deactivate the alarm and troubleshoot.

Here are a couple of other tips regarding lockers:

  • When finished using your locker, please shut the door and DO NOT lock the locker.
  • Please DO NOT leave items in daily lockers or use them as permanent lockers.  Items let in lockers will be taken out after hours and put at the Activities Desk.
  • If you want to rent a permanent locker, stop by the Activities Desk.

RAC Dietitian, Kaitlin Thompson

When facing a weight loss plateau (which can be a normal part of the weight loss process – typically defined as zero weight loss for 2 or more weeks), it can be tempting to take drastic measures. Use this time as an opportunity to focus on the non-scale victories you may be experiencing (clothes fitting better, feeling stronger, sleeping better, etc.) and stay consistent with your healthy habits. If needed, check in with a dietitian to make sure you’re still on the right path!

EGYM Onboarding Update

Since the addition of the EGYM studio in February of 2022, we have onboarded over 4,000 members to EGYM. Because of this incredible usage, and by extension the staff time needed to make all this happen, we are adjusting the onboarding process for members.

Effective May 1, EGYM onboardings scheduled through the RAC app will have a $25 fee associated with them. This fee will still be charged if the member no-shows or cancels within 24 hours of the scheduled onboarding. EGYM onboardings will remain complimentary to new members.

Effective May 1, EGYM program changes will have a $10 fee associated with it and will reserve a 10-minute meeting with a personal trainer to discuss progress, goals, and questions surrounding the program change. These appointments can be set up by emails Josh Lewis, Personal Training Lead and Steve Boring, Fitness Director.

We have offered complimentary onboarding since February 2022. The fees cover staff costs for the onboarding and programming changes. If you have been on the fence about becoming onboarded to EGYM, we recommend you reserve a time in the app now. After May 1st this will no longer be complimentary. Reservations are available a week in advance, and become unavailable 24 hours before the scheduled start time.

If you are unable to find a reservation time that matches your schedule, feel free to reach out to Josh Lewis, Personal Training Lead and Steve Boring, Fitness Director and we will work to secure a trainer for you.
