Member and Guest Behavior and Supervision Expectations

As we prepare for another summer season and as part of our commitment to maintaining a welcoming and safe environment, we wish to remind everyone of the RAC's behavior and supervision expectations that help make our club a respectful and enjoyable place for every member and guest.

Member and Guest Behavior

Whether you're a long-standing member or a first-time visitor at the RAC, please adhere to the following expectations while on club premises:

Respect for Others and Staff:  Treat all individuals with the same respect you would expect in return.  This includes polite communication and consideration for others' experiences and spaces within the club.

Respect for Club Facilities:  Our facilities are here for your enjoyment and benefit.  We ask that you treat the equipment and amenities with care to ensure they remain in excellent condition for all members.

Safety First:  Always act in a manner that ensures your safety and the safety of others.  This includes following club policies, using equipment properly, and being mindful of your surroundings.

Child Supervision Policy

Supervising children in our club is critical to ensure their safety and to maintain a pleasant environment for all club members.  Here's our policy concerning child supervision:

Children 12 and Under:  Must be supervised by a parent or an individual aged 16 or over at all times unless:

  • The child is checked into the Kids Club or the Neighborhood.
  • The child is participating in a club class, lesson, or event.  Please note that supervision must resume immediately once the session is over.

Consequences of Lack of Supervision:  Please be aware that failure to supervise children appropriately may lead to actions up to and including suspension or termination of membership.

Definition of Effective Child Supervision

To clarify, effective supervision involves:

  • Visual Contact:  The child must remain in sight of the supervisor at all times.
  • Proximity:  Especially for younger children, keeping them within arm's reach is essential to manage their behavior effectively.
  • Attentive Supervision:  The supervisor should focus fully on the child and not be distracted by other activities such as using a cell phone, engaging in tasks, or participating in personal workouts.  For example, it is unacceptable to be on the Fitness Floor while supervising a child in another area like the basketball court.

Adhering to these policies ensures that RAC remains a secure and positive space for all our members and their guests.  We appreciate your cooperation and commitment to these policies, which help foster a supportive community environment at our club.

Thank you for your attention to these important matters.  Let's continue supporting each other in maintaining the high standards that make RAC a premier place.  If you have any questions about our policies, feel free to contact me or any management team member.

RAC Dietitian, Kaitlin Thompson

When following the Mediterranean diet, animal protein is eaten in small quantities, with fish and seafood being preferred twice or more weekly. Other animal proteins (such as poultry, eggs, and dairy) can be consumed in smaller portions either daily or a few times per week. Red meat is limited to a few times per month with this eating style.

Website Outdoor Pool Indicator

The summer outdoor season is here! Last year, we added a feature on our website that is a great great resource for you to know the status of our outdoor pool.  Whether it be inclement weather, accidents in the pool or if you are just curious on where to find information on when it opens, visit our website before you come to the club to swim. For your convenience you can use the RAC website tile in the app.

Proper Swim Attire

We appreciate your attention and cooperation.

Lap Pool

The DAHLC pool at Mayo Clinic is currently closed for maintenance. This closure has increased the demand for our lap lanes, leading to longer wait times. To help minimize these delays, we encourage you to share the middle lanes whenever possible. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Motorcycle Parking

We get asked the question why do we have so many motorcycle parking spots? Although we put parking blocks out close to the motorcycle parking,...

Outdoor Locker Room - Keys Available at Outdoor Desk

Did you know that you can check out a locker key for our outdoor locker rooms when you are at the outdoor pool?  This may be a great alternative to using the locker rooms inside if all you are doing is checking in through the outdoor gate this summer.  Ask the Outdoor Desk Attendant for a free locker key.

Summer Safety Reminders

Keeping valuables safe in your car is important to prevent theft or damage. Here are some tips to help you protect your belongings:

  1. Keep valuables out of sight: The best way to deter theft is to keep your valuables hidden from plain view. Place them in the trunk or under the seats before reaching your destination. Avoid leaving bags, laptops, smartphones, or other valuable items on the seats or dashboard where they can be easily spotted.
  2. Utilize the glove compartment: If you have smaller valuable items like jewelry or important documents, consider storing them in your locked glove compartment. It provides an additional layer of security compared to leaving them in the open.
  3. Lock your doors and windows: Always ensure that your car is securely locked before leaving it unattended. Double-check all doors and windows to make sure they are properly closed. This simple step can deter opportunistic thieves looking for easy targets.
  4. Install a car alarm or security system: Consider installing an alarm system or a vehicle security system if your car doesn't already have one. These systems can act as a deterrent and provide an added layer of protection by alerting you or others if someone attempts to break into your vehicle.
  5. Use window tinting or shades: Applying window tinting or using shades can make it difficult for potential thieves to see into your car. This can help protect your valuables by keeping them hidden from prying eyes.
  6. Avoid leaving your car unattended with valuables: If possible, try to take your valuables with you when leaving the car. If you must leave them behind, make sure to follow the previous tips and keep them hidden.

Remember, no method is foolproof, but by following these tips, you can significantly reduce the risk of theft or damage to your valuables while they are in your car.
