Pickleball Anyone?
On Saturday, August 25th, we opened eight brand-new outdoor pickleball courts. We appreciate your patience during this project, as we had hoped they would be ready for play earlier in the summer.
We are very excited how they turned out. The best part for RAC members is they can reserve courts! No more putting a paddle in the queue and waiting your turn. You can book courts through the RAC app (Member Login tile) or by calling the Activities Desk (507) 287-9300. We have complimentary Recreational and Competitive Open Play every day of the week on the outdoor courts. You can sign up on the (reservations tile) on your RAC app. You may have to filter your app to show pickleball options. Sign-up is easy, and it will show you how many people are signed up.
You can get a loaner paddle and ball at the Activities or Outdoor Desk for those who have not played or do not own a paddle. The rules are posted outside by the courts if you have never played. We encourage you to join in the pickleball fun. If you love the game, paddles can be purchased in Thrive.
The RAC is hosting a Pickleball Tournament on September 21st and 22nd that will be open to members and non-members. Look for more information soon or reach out to Ben Maes, Racquet Sports Director ([email protected]) for more information.
Fitness Floor Renovation Update
Renovations will begin this month in the racquetball and squash courts. Here is the timeline that we know at this time:
Monday, September 16th:
- Squash courts 1 and 2 and RB Courts 1 - 3 will be unavailable starting Monday, September 16th (at the earliest).
- Racquetball Court #4 will be available until mid to late October
- Racquetball Court #5 (currently PT studio) may be available until mid to late October, depending on court conditions, after we remove all personal training equipment and flooring.
- Racquetball Courts #4 and #5 will be unavailable from mid to late October. They should be open by January 1st with the DoublePlay System that allows both racquetball and squash to be played.

RAC Dietitian, Kaitlin Thompson
It’s back-to-school time, which means many of us are now spending time packing school lunches for our kids. Try including a whole grain, a protein, and a fruit or vegetable for a balanced meal. As a bonus, including healthy fats like those found in pumpkin seeds, olives, avocados, and fatty fish can help with brain development and keeping your child’s heart healthy.
